Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ReadAloud ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the app.

Description of Service

ReadAloud is a text-to-speech application that converts documents (PDF, EPUB, DOCX, HTML, Markdown, and plain text) into spoken audio using your device's text-to-speech capabilities.

License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

• Download and install the app on devices you own or control
• Use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the app
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Remove any copyright or proprietary notices
• Use the app for any illegal purpose
• Sublicense, sell, or transfer your rights to the app

User Content

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any documents you import into the app.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Free Features

The app provides free features with certain limitations (e.g., limited number of documents, speed restrictions).

Premium Features

Premium features are available through:

• Monthly subscription: Billed monthly, auto-renews until cancelled
• Yearly subscription: Billed annually, auto-renews until cancelled
• Lifetime purchase: One-time payment for permanent access

Payment

All payments are processed through Google Play. By making a purchase, you agree to Google Play's terms of service and payment policies.

Subscription Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your Google Play account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.

Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Google Play according to their refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.

Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. Price changes will take effect at the start of the next billing period following notice of the price change. Your continued use after the price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

"As Is" Service

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• MERCHANTABILITY
• FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
• NON-INFRINGEMENT
• ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF CONTENT

Text-to-Speech Quality

The quality of text-to-speech output depends on your device's TTS engine and available voices. We do not guarantee the accuracy, pronunciation, or quality of the spoken output.

Document Processing

We do not guarantee that all documents will be processed correctly. Complex formatting, scanned documents, or corrupted files may not be processed accurately.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
• Any damages resulting from your use or inability to use the app
• Any damages resulting from unauthorized access to your data
• Any damages resulting from interruption or cessation of service

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ReadAloud, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

• Your use of the app
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by:

• Posting the updated Terms in the app
• Updating the "Last updated" date

Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the app at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe:

• Violates these Terms
• Is harmful to other users or third parties
• Is harmful to us

Upon termination, your license to use the app is immediately revoked.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the app shall be resolved through binding arbitration. You waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and ReadAloud regarding the app and supersede all prior agreements.
